On the Mat is a State of Mind

Tonight I am not at yoga, and quite on purpose. After a long long day away from the house and my pup I am on my sofa with dinner and monday night’s episode of Heroes.

Do I wish I were at yoga? Damn straight. But the forlorn look I got from my dog as I headed out the door with my mat gave me pause, and I stayed. I am also exhausted, so I think that an early dinner and an early night might do me well.

This silence, this peace that comes from knowing that I’m where I’m supposed to be without sacrificing my well being must be part of a yogic life. It must.

Onward and Inward.

more downward dog, less downward spiral

Smile, be happy!

"Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it." — Elizabeth Gilbert
