the yoga love

on the mat is a state of mind

Sweat + Breath.

There are nights when yoga is amazing, sexy, worth a new profile pic. There are nights when I can’t stand on one leg to save my life and the lives of everyone I love. No matter what kind of a night it is, I breathe and I sweat and I guess that’s what matters.

Remember – in the end – it’s all about the breath. Within the miracle of breath lies the answer to all your questions – and them some. I never sweat when I do my yoga. It’s a slow meditative process that is sweet and gentle. Is your yoga a personal journey within or just another exercise for your body?

John, thanks for the comment. I don’t believe sweating and one’s personal journey are mutually exclusive. Yoga is many things to many people and what works for one does not necessarily serve the next. So long as you are linking the body and the breath you are doing yoga, whether or not you sweat is a matter of preference and constitution.

more downward dog, less downward spiral

Smile, be happy!

"Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it." — Elizabeth Gilbert
